David Geshiwlm put it quite simply, “I came to Illinois State University looking for a grounds positions because I needed a job, and Human Resources saw my background, and the rest was history.” After receiving his Associates Degree in Hotel/ Restaurant Management in 1982, he became a Pastry Cook for the Ritz Carlton in Chicago from 1982 to 1985. After, Dave became the Front Office Manager for the Park Hyatt Hotel in Chicago from 1985 to 1990 and Rooms Divisions Manager for another hotel from 1990 to 1991. In 1991, Dave came to Illinois State as a Student Hiring Manager. He now is the Unit Manager for Watterson Dining Commons, where he says his favorite part about working for Illinois State is that “it keeps us young at heart. No matter how long we work here, we are always dealing with the same age of guests.” When not at work, Dave likes to spend his free time renovating houses.

When Jennifer Bietsch was asked to describe her past work experiences, she did not have to think about any place other than Illinois State. Jen has been a part of Campus Dining Services since 1996. She started her employment with Campus Dining when she was an undergraduate student. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, she began working as an Extra-Help Manager for Campus Dining Services. Jen was hired as a full-time Manager in 2001 and now is the Assistant Administor for our retail operations. She now has moved to Marketplace at Linkins Center. When she is not on campus, Jen likes to spend her free time hanging out with her friends and having a good time. So why stay with Illinois State? Jen says “I love working with the student workers and the full-time staff. We have some truly passionate people working here who love what they do.”
